A night out brought us to Glebe Point Rd. Quiet meal, bottle of wine. Just another week-night of escaping the chore of cooking at home. On our way home we noticed a very busy E Lounge, overflowing with people happily gluttonizing themselves on what appeared to be very handsome-looking pizza from a very impressive-looking woodfire oven. Having not tried this place we grabbed the menu and took it home to inspect further.

On paper it all looks good. “Woodfired Pizza as it should be”

Medium $14.9

Large $19.9

Extra toppings each $1.5

1/2 Pizzas $2

Calzone, light meals, salads, pasta, risotto, and even “Desserts to cream your pants”

Hmm … must be worth a visit. Even if the pizza is shit, at least I’ll get a happy ending. Providing I order one of their dessert calzone or gelato’s.

The reservation was made and I was even asked by the restaurant if we’d byo.

“Yes we will byo”

“Then you’ll be seated upstairs”

“Ok then. That’s a party of four, 7.30pm Saturday”

On arrival, things were looking a little different from when we saw it weeks ago, all busy and frantic and rowdy. Tonight, it was looking rather void of people. We’re seated upstairs. Echo … echo … echo … I guess everyone decided to order in tonight? Nice spot, though, sitting upstairs overlooking Glebe Point Rd and its other busier restaurants.

One thing printed on the menu made us a little puzzled. Something about “Complaints can be taken up with the kitchen hand, not the manager” Not quite sure whether that just means “We don’t give a shit if you’re not happy, so talk to the dishwasher/vegetable chopper”

Having studied the menu already, we knew what we wanted. And as soon as The Girls saw a dish on the menu that had both prawns and pasta in the same sentence, they were right to go as well.

gorgonzola, roast potato, rocket & parmesan drizzled with virgin olive oil $14.9

capellini pasta with tiger prawns, onion, garlic & shallots, cherry tomato, chilli & lemon juice with basil pesto $18.95

italian sausage, roasted pinenuts & basil $14.9

It didn’t take long for the food to come out. I wonder why. The pizza looks and tastes pretty good. Light on the gorgonzola, but tasty, nonetheless.

The pasta’s looked as pretty as a picture, yet seemed a bit parched and obviously needed a good splodge of extra virgin olive oil. And perhaps the chilli should have been included, as promised.

None of us raved about the food and didn’t even bother with dessert. No happy endings tonight, I’m afraid.
