As much as I love roaming about farmers’ markets and greenmarkets, I don’t mind the occasional sniff around a good old flea market. You never know what bargains and props you can find! Here we are at Williamsburg Flea at the end of summer, all splayed out in the baking sun on the shores of the East River overlooking that magical Manhattan skyline.
Something like 150 vendors set up shop on the sprawling concrete slab. Vendors selling handmade and vintage clothes, art and photography, candles, jewellery, used home and kitchen-wares and junk that could be your instant treasure.
Many food vendors make it to the market as well. A flea market isn’t complete without a bit of food thrown in, right? Fab donuts from Dough, Mexican edibles from Cemita’s and sugary treats from S’mores Bakery. Just to name a few.
We couldn’t help but make a spontaneous purchase with a few of these screen-printed pieces of wood. Not sure where I’ll fit them, but the cool urban scenes are right up my alley.
