
Halibut Fish Tacos with Cabbage Slaw
Flaky and delicious whitefish tacos with a zesty cabbage slaw!
Ingredients
Taco Ingredients
- 1 pound halibut
- 8 tortillas Corn tortillas, flour tortillas, or taco shells
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1/4 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp coreander
- 2 tsp olive oil
Cabbage Slaw Ingredients
- 1 lime extract the lime juice
- 8 oz. shredded purple cabbage
- 8 oz. shredded green cabbage
- 1/4 cup roughly chopped cilantro
- 2 green onions diced
- 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
Instructions
- Pat dry the halibut and preheat the oven to 350°F
- In a small bowl combine the first set of spices, salt, pepper, oregano, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin, and coriander. Mix well
- Cover a baking dish with parchment paper and place the halibut in the center of the dish and brush the fish with olive oil on both sides
- Sprinkle seasoning over evenly and squeeze lime juice over the halibut – then bake it for 10 minutes
- While the fish is in the oven, place the shredded cabbage in a large bowl, add the cilantro and green onion, and sprinkle the pepper and cumin over the cabbage
- In a small bowl combine the mayonnaise and the lime juice and stir well
- Mix the mayonnaise with the cabbage, stirring well
- When the halibut is done baking in ten minutes remove it from the oven
- Place a halibut filet in the center of your tortilla and cover it with a heaping spoon of cabbage slaw and drizzle the slaw with a touch more lime juice before folding the tortilla in half
