
Sautéed Shrimp Tacos with Creamy Hot Sauce
The creamy sauce with a kick compliments these flavorful shrimp wonderfully.
Ingredients
Shrimp Taco Ingredients
- 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined, tails removed
- 8 small tortillas corn tortillas, flour tortillas, or taco shells
- 1 large avocado peeled, pitted, diced
- ½ small head of purple cabbage shredded
- ½ red onion diced
- 1 cup cotija cheese grated
- 1 bunch of cilantro chopped
- 1 lime cut into wedges
- Olive oil
Shrimp Seasoning Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ¼ teaspoon cumin
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Sauce Ingredients
- ⅓ cup mayonnaise
- ⅓ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1 ½ tablespoons lime juice from two limes
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¾ teaspoon Sriracha sauce or another hot sauce
Instructions
- Rinse and pat dry shrimp and set in a large bowl
- In a smaller bowl combine the ingredients for the seasoning
- Sprinkle the seasoning over the shrimp and stir to coat the shrimp
- Drizzle 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and place the seasoned shrimp in the skillet
- Sauté for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping occasionally
- When done, set it to the side and keep warm
- In a large bowl add the shredded purple cabbage and a small portion of the shrimp taco sauce, stir to combine well
- Warm up the tortillas
- Slice and dice the avocado
- Assemble the tacos by spreading a small amount of sauce in the center of the tortilla
- Place a few shrimp on top of the sauce, scoop some of the purple cabbage mixes on top of the shrimp, and place a few pieces of avocado on top of the slaw
- Drizzle with the shrimp taco sauce
