
Spicy Shrimp Tacos with Garlic Cilantro Lime Sauce
The garlic cilantro lime sauce is the perfect balance for the spice level of the shrimp. These are mouthwatering!
Ingredients
Shrimp Spice Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Shrimp Taco Ingredients
- 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined, tails removed
- 2 ½ cups green cabbage shredded
- 8 small tortillas Corn tortillas, flour tortillas, or taco shells
Toppings
- 1 avocado peeled and sliced
- Cotija cheese crumbled
- Lime Wedges
Garlic Cilantro Lime Sauce Ingredients
- ½ cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup water
- Juice from 2 limes
- ½ cup chopped green onions
- ½ cup cilantro leaves
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Place all ingredients for the garlic cilantro lime sauce into a blender, then pulse on short bursts until the ingredients are combined and blended well
- Place the shredded cabbage into a bowl and spoon in about ¼ cup of the sauce. Stir well and squeeze a little lime juice over the top
- Rinse and pat the shrimp dry, then place the shrimp in a clean bowl
- In a small bowl combine the ingredients for the shrimp spice
- Toss the spice over the shrimp in the other bowl and stir to cover it completely
- Drizzle oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and toss the shrimp in and sauté for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Be sure the shrimp are cooked through (You can tell they’re fully cooked when they reach an internal temperature of 120°F or they turn to a light pink color)
- Mash some of the avocados and spread them on the tortillas, then spoon a little of the slaw on top of the mashed avocado
- Sprinkle with crumbles of cheese and add in the cooked shrimp
